The Tennessee Constitution was amended in 2003 to create the Tennessee Education Lottery Commission, which benefits K-12 education and early learning programs with proceeds from lottery sales. How to Claim Prizes & Claim Centers

Tennessee Lottery prizes of less than $600 can be claimed at any lottery retailer and do not require players to submit a claim form. Winnings of $600 or more can be claimed by mailing the signed winning ticket with a completed claim form, proof of ID, and Social Security number. Winners can download the form from the Tennessee Lottery website. Claims by mail must be sent to P.O. Box 290636, Nashville, TN 37229-0636.     

The Nashville Headquarters claim center and Lottery offices in Chattanooga, Memphis, and Knoxville are open for in-person claims from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Prizes of $200,000 and higher must be claimed at the Nashville Headquarters.       

Claims for Tennessee Lottery draw games must be made within 180 days of the drawing date and 90 days after the game ends for scratch off games.

About the Tennessee Lottery 

The Tennessee General Assembly established the Tennessee Lottery on June 11, 2003, intending to raise funds for education in the state. The Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation was formed to regulate the games after legislators amended the Constitution to designate the lottery, which was later approved by 58% of state voters.

History of Largest Tennessee Lottery Prior Winners

Tennessee Lottery players have won many fantastic jackpots playing the state’s popular draw games. Seven Powerball jackpots and one Mega Millions jackpot have been won in the state since it launched in 2010. 

  1. Lisa and John Robinson of Munford purchased a Powerball ticket for the January 13, 2016 drawing split with two other winners from California and Florida. Their share of the $1.586 billion jackpot was a lump sum cash amount of $327,835,000. 
  2. Twenty North American Stamping Group co-workers hit a Powerball jackpot worth $420.9 million on November 26,2016. The $254 million lump sum gave each player over $12.7 million.   
  3. Roy Cockrum of Knoxville won the top Powerball prize of $259.8 million on June 11, 2015. He took the cash option of $153,530,034. 
  4. The Freedom Trust won a $198 million Powerball jackpot on July 13, 2019, purchased at Worsham’s market in Hendersonville. The anonymous group opted for a cash payment of $128,130,339. 
  5. The Avondale Revocable Trust won a $144.1 million jackpot on November 4, 2015, from a Powerball ticket purchased at Hobson Tobacco and Beer in Antioch. They chose the lump sum option of $89,795,622.
