Maine (ME) Lottery Results and Winning Numbers

A bill sponsored in 1973 by Rep. Arthur Genest of Waterville laid the foundation for the Maine State Lottery. The public voted in favor of the measure, and the state’s lottery began operations in 1974.

Once up and running, the first lottery draw game called “Play Me” sold for $0.50, and the first winner claimeda $20 prize. Lottery proceeds go to the state’s General Fund, which helps support various state programs to benefit citizens.

Maine Scratch-Off Games

The Maine Lottery offers nearly 40 scratch-off games, called instant games, sold at authorized lottery retailers for $1 up to $25 per play. Higher-priced tickets typically have better odds of winning one of the available prizes. How to Claim Prizes & Claim Centers

Winners may claim prizes of less than $600 at any Maine Lottery retailer. For tickets of $600 or more, winners will need to mail (or courier) a signed claim form along with the signed winning ticket, plus a copy of a government-issued ID to:

Governor Kenneth M. Curtis started the Maine Lottery when he drew the first numbers on June 27, 1974.
