After 14 consecutive drawings without a grand-prize winner, the Powerball jackpot for Saturday night is sitting at an estimated $263 million, with a $117.7 million cash value.

That number nudges past the most recent jackpot win, on Dec. 7 via a ticket purchased in New York, when the top prize was $256 million.

Should someone match all six balls and win Saturday night’s drawing, it would be the largest jackpot victory since October, when a ticket-buyer in Georgia won $478 million.

This surge past the quarter-billion-dollar mark comes on the heels of Wednesday’s drawing, when the winning numbers were 1, 20, 36, 38, and 43 with a red Powerball of 24, and no one took down the top prize of $238 million.

However, a pair of ticket-buyers did secure seven-figure scores on Wednesday. An Indiana resident not only hit all five white balls for a $1 million dollar hit, they also purchased the multiplier, which came in at 2x, thereby doubling the prize.

Meanwhile, a customer in Ohio matched all five white balls without the Power Play multiplier, winning $1 million.

Lottery Geeks estimates about 11.3 million tickets were sold for Wednesday’s drawing.

      Lucky 7s in Mega Millions?

Meanwhile, in Mega Millions land, nobody won Tuesday night’s lottery, making Friday night’s drawing worth an estimated $77 million (with a $34.1 million cash value).

Despite nobody hitting all six numbers Tuesday night — they were 20, 24, 33, 39, and 48, and a gold Mega Ball of 18 — one ticket-buyer in Michigan did match all five white balls for a $1 million prize.

Lottery Geeks estimates some 9.6 million tickets were sold for Tuesday’s drawing, which had an advertised jackpot of $62 million.

Tickets for either lottery cost $2, with most states offering the multiplier option — which impacts any prize won except the jackpot — for an additional $1.

Both Powerball and Mega Millions are legal in all states except Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. Tickets for both draw games are also sold in Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In Puerto Rico, customers can buy tickets for Powerball, but not for Mega Millions.
