Mega Millions Jackpot Cracks $200M At End Of Week With Two Washington Lottery Millionaires

Mega Millions has by far the juicier jackpot, with Friday’s drawing estimated at $203 million. Powerball is at $54 million for Saturday.

      Washington lottery sign

This past week’s three major national lottery draws saw six new millionaires crowned, and two of them hailed from the state of Washington.

“The Evergreen State” has never seen so much green.

There were three million-dollar winners in Tuesday’s Mega Millions draw and another three total across the Monday and Wednesday Powerball drawings. The pair of Washington winners came on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nobody hit any jackpots this week, however, allowing both top prizes to continue to grow.

Mega Millions has by far the juicier jackpot this weekend, with Friday’s drawing estimated at $203 million (cash option: $94.9 million). Powerball, which reset after a $139 million win in Ohio just over a week ago, is at an estimated $54 million (cash value: $25.6 million) for Saturday.

      Bigger Prizes = higher sales

The winning numbers for Tuesday’s Mega Millions draw were 21, 26, 54, 60, and 64, with a gold Mega Ball of 3. Nobody hit the estimated jackpot of $181 million by going six-for-six, but three players paired all five white balls — and didn’t play the Megaplier — to earn an even $1 million apiece before taxes.

In addition to the lucky player in Washington, there was one in California and another in Ohio.

One Powerball player on Monday enjoyed the same good fortune, matching the five white balls (20, 22, 31, 33, 45) but not the red Powerball (1). That winner was in the red-hot state of New Jersey, where two huge jackpots have been already been hit in 2024.

For Wednesday’s Powerball draw, the winning numbers were 7, 11, 12, 27, and 46, with a red Powerball of 26. Two tickets connected on everything but the red ball — one in Washington, the other in Massachusetts.

Typically, with larger jackpots come a higher quantity of ticket purchases nationwide, and that bore out this week. Tuesday’s Mega Millions draw attracted an estimated 13.89 million buys, compared to just 7.37 million for Wednesday’s Powerball game.

Tickets for either lottery cost $2, and in most states customers have the option to play the multiplier for $1 more.

Both Powerball and Mega Millions tickets are available in every state except Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. Mega Millions tickets can also be purchased in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands, while Powerball tickets are sold in those two jurisdictions as well as Puerto Rico.
