In what has quickly proven to be a popular merging of fantasy and reality, the Game of Thrones scratch-off game has been launched in the U.S. by Scientific Games. It comes through a collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment and is already capturing the attention of fans of the show and of lottery play.

Game of Thrones, the source of inspiration for this new scratch-off, remains a cultural juggernaut. Originating from George R.R. Martin’s acclaimed book series A Song of Ice and Fire, it was adapted into one of HBO’s most-watched television series.

The show’s intricate plot, complex characters, and a fantasy world reminiscent of medieval Europe captivated millions globally. These traits have turned it into a hallmark of modern pop culture. Its popularity is reflected in its viewership, with the final season averaging 46 million viewers per episode. In addition, merchandise revenue has reportedly surpassed the $2 billion mark.

The Game of Thrones scratch-off is so far only available in Colorado. However, Scientific Games is anxious to see a quick rollout in other states.

According to a press release by Scientific Games, the scratch-off has outperformed all other Colorado Lottery $10 games in fiscal year 2024. It took third place in sales behind only the $20 and $50 games.

This impressive statistic highlights the enduring appeal of the Game of Thrones brand, particularly among younger adult players. It also underscores the innovative approach of Scientific Games and Warner Bros. in capturing the imagination of the public.

The Seven Kingdoms Experience, slated for 2025, promises to be a spectacular event. Winners will receive a trip to a “medieval-style castle winery” in Napa Valley, California, where they will be immersed in the world of Game of Thrones. Participants will be assigned to one of seven “Houses,” including Targaryen, Stark, Lannister, and others. During the event, they will engage in various brand-immersive games for a chance to win a piece of a prize pool that could reach $7 million.

Adding to the excitement, trip winners will have the opportunity to support their “Champion” in a live jousting tournament. Moreover, a “Ruler” will be selected from each house to compete for prize money. The winning house will divvy the pot among all its members.

As fans of the series know, Game of Thrones is more than just a television show. It’s a phenomenon that has defined a genre and created a legacy that continues to resonate with audiences around the world. The Game of Thrones scratch-off and The Seven Kingdoms Experience are testaments to the show’s enduring legacy, even years after the series finale.

Scientific Games revolutionized the lottery industry in 2007 with the introduction of Linked Games. These are games that offer players not only the chance to win cash prizes but also unique experiential rewards.

This innovative concept transformed traditional lottery games by creating a more dynamic interaction with the games. Games tied to pop culture properties like Deal Or No Deal, Willy Wonka, and others have raised $4.6 billion in retail sales, according to Scientific Games.
