The DC Lottery announced Monday the launch of a new mobile app for lottery players within Washington, D.C., available for Apple and Android devices.

“We are excited to broaden access to DC Lottery and provide the District’s players a new way to play,” DC Lottery Executive Director Frank Suarez said in a press release. “The mobile app puts the ease of DC Lottery into the players’ hands, making it more accessible on the go.”

D.C. has offered legal iLottery play since 2020, and the new app gives customers easy access to both those e-Instant games and all relevant information surrounding draw lottery games such as Powerball, Mega Millions, DC 3, DC 4, and DC 5.

The app is free to download. During this launch period, the DC Lottery is offering a special promotion, matching initial deposits of up to $275 for newly created iLottery accounts.

      FAQs

The lottery site has posted a Frequently Asked Questions page in conjunction with the app launch, and it kicks off with the simple question of why there’s a new app.

“The DC Lottery is committed to providing you with a fun and convenient experience on the go,” the page answers. “The Official DC Lottery App allows you to play your favorite lottery and e-Instant games from almost anywhere in the District, 24/7. The app provides enhanced features and capabilities like scanning your tickets to see if you’re a winner.”

Existing DC iLottery players can sign in to the new app with their old credentials. The app offers the same 80-plus games as the previous version, along with weekly promotions and bonuses and easy access to jackpot information and ticket scanning. The app also offers responsible gambling features.

This is not the only recent digital upgrade for D.C. gamblers. The DC Lottery also oversees sports betting in the state, and in March, it announced that the much-criticized GambetDC app would be replaced by a FanDuel app. That changeover happened on April 15.
