Futility Pays Big In Texas As Woman Claims $250K Top Prize By Matching No Numbers At All

A Texas woman who goes by the name An M. recently turned $2 into a quarter million in the Texas Lottery’s “All or Nothing” draw game, and she did it by managing to match not a single one of her 12 selected numbers.

Just as the name suggests, the $250,000 jackpot is available if someone matches all 12 of the 24 numbers from 1 to 24, or none at all.

According to the Texas Lottery, odds of winning the top prize — by either smashing all the digits or dodging them all — are 1 in 2,704,156.

Another interesting wrinkle: An M. purchased the winning ticket via third-party lottery courier Lotto.com, which is based in Jersey City, New Jersey, and is available in Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Texas, with more states on the horizon.

      What were the lucky numbers?

      The winning draw took place on Feb. 27, when the 12 numbers drawn were: 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 22. That meant that An M. had 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and so forth. That winning ticket from Feb. 27 was procured through a Lotto.com Player’s Cafe establishment located in Austin, Texas.

The game “All or Nothing” most recently minted $250,000 winners in similar fashion — 0 of 12 numbers — on Jan. 25, 2024 and Dec. 5, 2023.

According to a release provided by Lotto.com, when she learned that she had won, An called her husband and he said, “You’re lying!” in disbelief. She played some of the numbers via quick pick and then chose some of them on her own.

Her plan is to put the prize money into her investing portfolio, with a donation on the way for Winnie Berry Animal Shelter of Angela County.

“If I ever win the big one, I am going to rebuild Winnie Berry to make it bigger,” An M. told Lotto.com. “I will pay their expenses for the next two years for them to run it.”

Texas is home to some pretty big multi-state jackpot scores over the years, including a Mega Millions ticket for about $157.1 million (the jackpot was $277 million), lassoed by an anonymous player in Leander on Sept. 24, 2019.
